Sri Sri Roja Guruji

The busy life of Ln Roja Shanmugam has always been dovetailed into the social life around him. He finds pleasure in actively taking part in the actives of diverse organizations. He was the President of Shivappanaika kannada Sangha, Shimoga in 1989, Of Shimoga Tamil Sangha, Shimoga in 1990, and the Deputy District Governor of Lion Club, Shimoga district in 1988. He was one of the Directors of the Family Planning Association of India, Shimoga for over ten Years.

Ln Roja Shanmugam is a multifarious personality. He is well-versed with and comfortable conversant in Tamil, kannada and English. In his conversations, his profound knowledge of Tamil literature shines splendidly and pleasantly. He has composed a number of poems and published at least three works. “Nakkeran” in Tamil., “Thiruvilakku” and “Shabarisha” in Kannada even amidst his busy engagements and several occupations. He is at work with many more compositions and an unknown number of them are lying in wait within him.

Roja Shanmugam has beautified his personality by travelling extensively and abroad. He visited the U.S.A and the U.K. to participate in an international conversion held at Miami in Florida and was applauded wherever he talked.

Ln Roja Shanmugam has been a fervent follower of the Indian National Congress. He was the District Congress General Secretary and State General Secretary at Karnataka congress Party. He was very close associate with Sri S. Bangarappa the Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka. The popularity of Roja was proved in the municipal elections when he polled a heavy number of votes in the II Division, Shimoga city.

The soul within him has religious aspirations manifestly. He has found solace on the hills of “Shabarimalai” in the sacrosanctum of Lord Shabarisha. The Roja has been ‘The Pradhana Guruswamy’ great reverence to the religious mass.

The Roja has composed lovely poems on ‘Lord Ayyappa’ which have been joined the audio-track. Many more are waiting to flow on the track. The devotion within him for the Lord has also shownout in the forms of temples for Lord Ayyappa in the construction of which and for the construction of which the Roja strove perspiringly and persistently.

He was the spirit behind in the construction of “Ayyappa Swamy Temple” at Bejjavalli, Thirthalli Taluk and now remains a trustee of the temple. He motivated the construction of the temples for Lord Ayyappa at Vinobanagar, Guddekal, Hosudi farm, Kachinakatte, Shikaripura and on the bank of the river Thunga in two places. He was the Secretary for the “Sarvajanika Ayyappa Swamy Temple”, Ramanna setty Park, Shimoga, eversince he built the same with the enthusiastic devotees of the “Lord” in 1971 and new also is dedicated to build more “Temples” for Lord Ayyappa. He is the founder-president of the “DEEPA PUJA SAMITHI” and he has no languish on his eyelids, exhaustion in his legs to lead the devotees of “Lord Ayyappa” to his sacred shrine on the “Shabarai Malai”.

Ln Shanmugam is a charming rhan, conspicuously ambitious and untiringly adventurous. He is affable in Conversations, unaffected in the behaviors, aesthetic in taste and analytical in appreciations. He is innovative in ideas, aspiring to achieve things and result-oriented. He is humane sunny and quite friendly with a willing mind to help the needy. His residence is vibrant with visitors and their number turns one’s head reeling. But Roja is never tried of his visitors. Every day people knock on the doors of “Roja” for reliefs, recommendations, conciliations, guidance and what not!

Many awards have sat on the “Roja” like dew-drops to make his illustrious service shine with more lustre. He has been awarded such awards as the international Awards for Social Service, Masterkey Awards and Adult Education Service Awards.
